Countdown

A week from today I will (hopefully) be hobnobbing with other illustrators, learning new things and feeling inspired. How have I prepared? Well, I have my table-top easel and 8 out of ten color copies for my portfolio. I still don't know which painting I'm going to submit for the New York Showcase and thus, I haven't had it matted yet.

I looked up previous winners of the showcase and it totally humbled me. Those are some talented folks. So, I'm changing gears to focus on just having fun at the conference and not stressing about the contest. I'll submit a painting and not worry about how bad I'll feel about not placing. Instead I'll just be grateful that I get to be at such a cool event.

That being said, any suggestions on which painting? Take a gander at my portfolio and tell me what you think.

You have a very distinctive style. There WILL be SOME people who will not like it, there always are, but don't be discouraged. You have nothing to worry about, your work is fabulous, easily recognisable and I would say very marketable. Good luck. I especially like the kiss and teacher's wrath.

I like the Substitute teacher with the tacks - it tells a funny story we all can relate to. I really like how the denture excitement turned out!!

I can't tell you which one. They're all amazing. Go with your gut feel on which one makes you the most happy. Don't worry about what you think they're looking for. You know what your best work is. Other than that...good luck!
